Opening the Architecture to Every Horizon
Before the morning mist has lifted, the sea breeze in Adler carries the salt air across the villa walls, quietly expressing the warmth and stillness of coastal life. Here, guests can leave behind the pace of everyday life and settle into a restorative retreat.
Using the pure language of contemporary architecture, the designer frames the sea, clouds and sky as part of the interior experience. Double-height spaces draw the eye upward, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring the distant coastline and forest into view, making nature feel like an extension of every room.
02. Materials in Dialogue with Nature
Balancing Stone and Timber
The villa uses 21PARKHOUSE® flexible stone across exterior walls and ceilings. The contrast between Roman Travertine and Natural Wood textures balances cool mineral character with visual warmth, softening the architectural edges and establishing an inviting yet substantial presence.
The fine texture and natural colouring of flexible stone give the architecture greater visual depth. Its strong weather and impact resistance also helps protect the surface from demanding coastal conditions, supporting a stable and durable exterior finish.
03. Aesthetics with Lasting Performance
Ageing Resistance
Testing cited by the original article indicates that flexible stone withstands 2,000 hours of artificial ageing, equivalent to approximately 30–50 years of outdoor use. It is therefore suitable for exterior walls, with straightforward long-term maintenance that supports project safety.
Water and Salt-Spray Resistance
Flexible stone offers strong resistance to water and salt spray, helping prevent mould, cracking and detachment. This makes it suitable for moisture-prone environments such as spas, swimming pools and seaside developments.
Freeze-Thaw Resistance
Flexible stone can withstand up to 100 repeated freeze-thaw cycles from -30°C to 50°C without surface powdering or cracking. Rigid finishes such as ceramic tile are more vulnerable to freeze-thaw stress, which can cause cracking or detachment. Flexible stone is thin, breathable and resistant to deformation, making it well suited to cold regions including Moscow, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang and Liaoning.
By combining ageing resistance, salt-spray resistance and freeze-thaw performance, 21PARKHOUSE® flexible stone gives contemporary architecture more ways to respond to coastal environments and demanding climates.
