For Bjork Linear Timber, 21PARKHOUSE® looks to the Nordic birch, or björk, as a tree of life: a symbol of renewal, purity and resilience. Its silver-white trunk stands out against snow and winter light, while the markings in its bark record the passing of time.
01. Order and Warmth from the Nordic Forest
For centuries, people in northern Europe have associated the birch with cultural traditions and beliefs, as well as the forests around them.

The 21PARKHOUSE® design team drew on these associations and studied the original texture of birch wood. Through high-precision scanning and digital modelling, the team reproduced its natural cracks, fine growth rings and weathered surface markings in Bjork Linear Timber flexible stone.

02. Bjork Linear Timber by 21PARKHOUSE®
Each panel follows the free, unforced rhythm of a growing tree. Across large surfaces, designers can use its linear wood grain to create a refined, restrained finish.

| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Product | 21PARKHOUSE® Bjork Linear Timber flexible stone |
| Sheet size | 2800 × 1200 mm |
| Thickness | 2–5 mm (±1 mm) |
| Minimum bending radius | 200 mm |
In hotels, galleries and other carefully composed interiors, the pale wood-grain surface provides a quiet backdrop for artwork and furnishings. Designers can pair it with metal or stone to balance wabi-sabi character with contemporary simplicity.
Flexible Stone and Conventional Wood
The original 21PARKHOUSE® product comparison highlights the following differences between Bjork Linear Timber flexible stone and conventional wood finishes.
| Feature | Bjork Linear Timber flexible stone | Conventional wood finishes |
|---|---|---|
| Fire performance | Class A fire performance and high-temperature resistance. | Combustible; may need additional fire treatment and may char at high temperatures. |
| Moisture resistance | Resists water, moisture and salt spray. | Can absorb moisture, swell and decay. |
| Curved forms | Minimum bending radius of 200 mm; direct wet bonding to prepared walls. | Curved forms are more limited and may require joints or assembled sections. |
| Environmental features | Formaldehyde-free and recyclable; the brand comparison states a zero-carbon footprint. | Some composite boards may contain formaldehyde; timber harvesting affects forest resources. |
| Service life and maintenance | The brand comparison gives 30–50+ years, with ageing and stain resistance and self-cleaning properties. | The comparison gives 10–15 years; scratches and wear may require maintenance or replacement. |
| Design options | Customisable textures, colours and sizes, including stone, wood and woven effects. | Primarily wood-grain textures, with a more limited range of surface effects. |
Performance and service-life figures above reflect the manufacturer’s original comparison. Actual results depend on product specification, exposure, installation and maintenance.
03. Performance for Everyday Spaces
Class A Fire Performance
21PARKHOUSE® reports EU Class A fire certification and compliance with China’s A2 requirements for fire-resistant building materials in the original product introduction. The article highlights high-temperature resistance and resistance to detachment as features intended to limit further fire spread, with applications in high-rise hotels and office buildings.

Formaldehyde-Free, Low-Odour Material
The original article identifies formaldehyde, benzene compounds, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and ammonia as sources of odour after renovation. 21PARKHOUSE® describes its flexible stone as formaldehyde-free, with a special internal microporous structure designed to adsorb and break down airborne compounds such as formaldehyde, helping reduce post-renovation odours.

Water and Moisture Resistance
21PARKHOUSE® specifies water and salt-spray resistance for its flexible stone. It is intended to withstand rain on exterior walls and humid conditions indoors, helping reduce moisture-related cracking and detachment. Designers can also consider it for wall finishes in spas, pool areas and coastal settings.

21PARKHOUSE® combines material technology with natural surface textures while aiming to reduce excessive extraction of resources. With fire performance and bendable sheets, designers can retain the character of natural materials, explore curved forms and manage project costs.
